Emergencies can happen with little or no warning. Severe weather, power outages, fires, evacuations, household emergencies, and other unexpected events can all affect the safety and well-being of pets.
Planning ahead can make it easier to respond quickly and safely. Pet owners may wish to prepare items such as current identification, updated microchip information, veterinary and vaccination records, medications, food and water, carriers or crates, leashes, sanitation supplies, comfort items, and emergency contact information.
It can also be helpful to identify pet-friendly emergency accommodations, transportation options, and trusted people who may be able to assist if you are temporarily unable to care for your pet.
